Near Catastrophe

Last night when we came home from church, Bonney was dragging her tie out cable and anchor across the driveway.  She had pulled the anchor out of the ground, over, under, or through the electric fence, and across the yard.  It was dark, we were tired, so we put her in another pen and went inside.  This morning we figured out what happened.

A smaller piece of the limb fell off in a storm a couple weeks ago, so we knew it was just a matter of time until this section fell, but we didn’t expect it to fall on a calm day.

From the marks on the ground, it looks like it missed the chickens by about two feet.  It pinned the fence to the ground, which completely grounded it so Bonney could have walked through anywhere she wanted.  No permanent damage, and no injuries.  It could have been much worse.
